Children’s toys are typically labeled with an age appropriate range. Assuredly, a child within the range listed has the needed skills to properly play with or fit into the product. Step 2 toys are designed to cover a variety of age ranges from infants to young adults. The durable, easy to wash play houses are one of the most popular items that they carry. These are designed with different features and options available to help them appear as life like as possible while being geared towards boys, girls, or both.

One option in these unites comes in shades of brown and tan for boys or pink and purple for girls. The sturdy plastic outdoor playhouse looks similar to a hut. Children will enjoy the full floor while parents enjoy that it may be hosed down easily when dirty. There is also an imitation slate roof, Dutch style door, and arch window at the top. Toddler aged kids will be able to “play house” thanks to the doorbell that comes complete with sounds and mail box.

For truly amazing outdoor playhouses there is the Adventure Center from Step 2 toys. The two story club house also has a built in playground. Designed with the appearance of a rustic lodge, these playhouses include a ladder for climbing and then a slide for coming back down as well as plenty of hiding space for hide- and- seek. The rope ladder, swings, and upper level steering wheel will give children a place to play and let their imagination run wild for house. There is also an optional toddler swing and ball hoop attachment to help it be more versatile for smaller age groups. This particular unit received the 2008 Reviewers’ Choice Award from Buzzillions.

Let your child have friends over for a “cookout” with the grille inspired playhouse. The unit features a built- in kitchen that has a plastic sink, outdoor patio area with a bench for two small children, and doorbell. In addition, an imitation grill and five piece set of plastic grill tools. Add on plastic food items and you will have everything a child needs to entertain and please his “guests”.

The country style cottage playhouse from Step 2 toys is another favorite for small children. It is a fully enclosed playhouse that holds a charming, modern appeal. Inside there is a plastic stone fireplace, phone and electronic doorbell. Children can tend to their plants in the built in planter or perform housework with the internal kitchenette area that features a movable faucet, burner with clicking knob, and sink. The large windows make it easy for parents to see what is going on as well.

For the children that love to climb around there is the climber unit. This unique unit is designed to occupy a child’s imagination for hours. They are able to stay hidden inside the hide out area or climb through the tunnels to other sections of the playhouse. Inside there is a skylight and plastic drop leaf table complete with two child size stools. The climbing ladder can be taken to access the bridge that then connects you to the lookout tower. Inside the tower you will find a telescope and steering wheel to aid in pirate themed adventures.

Step 2 toys are perfect for many small children. The varying designs allow a child to play in their imagination for long periods of time. There are also many built in safety features for smaller children to ensure a safe play environment for all. Each unit is easy for adults to assemble and the snap together design also makes it convenient to take apart and store during colder months.

Spring is here and summer is fast approaching. Now is a great time to begin thinking about how to keep your young children busy and entertained. With so many kids playing video games or watching television all day you need to come up with a plan to keep them busy outside and provide a unique play area.

Playhouses will give your children the opportunity to expand their creativity and playtime. These realistic looking units give your children the opportunity to play, act and use their imagination. This is a great way to begin to teach your children how to get along and play well with others. This also includes learning how to share. The added bonus is that it may even teach them how to clean up after themselves!

As you begin to search for the perfect playhouse for your child or children, you may want to keep in mind the cost factor. Playhouses can vary in price depending on the size and the type of materials they are constructed from. One of the least expensive styles is the nylon tent-like structures. Due to the construction, they may not be able to be left outdoors for extended periods of time. They are normally constructed from nylon and have different types of polls for supports. The average price of these units tends to be less than $100, which makes it affordable for most people. Some of the styles may include the schoolhouse, the log cabin, and even those that have tunnels for your child to crawl through to get to the tented area.

The next popular style is the plastic playhouse type. Some of most popular brands are the ones manufactured by Little Tikes. They often take on a cottage style look with the sloped roofs and cobblestone façade. Some of the units have a fold down table for your children to enjoy their outdoor lunch or afternoon snack. The Little Tikes Picnic on the Patio Plastic Playhouse is very popular, and it costs around $350. The dimensions are 73”x37”x47”, and it even has an electronic doorbell with six different sounds. It also has a kitchen with an oven and fireplace. It also includes two stools, plates, cups and utensils.

The wooden playhouses tend to be much more expensive due to the construction materials. This style can be a simple wooden cottage or log cabin. The smaller models may cost less than $700. There are much more elaborate designs as well in this style of outdoor playhouse. You can purchase an 8′ x 12′ Cape Cod Playhouse, which includes a white picket fence, a real roof with shingles and actual windows. It even has a chimney and dormers along with a wooden floor. These units can cost anywhere from $1500 to over $5000, depending on the size and style. You will need to assemble this home using the do it yourself plans and instructions.

If this is out of your price range, you can always build one yourself. Numerous websites offer free plans for you to start a beautiful playhouse. Provided you have the time and knowledge, this could be a great way to create your child’s fantasy Playhouse. You can even match the design style based on your home.

Playhouses are available at many do-it-yourself garden centers and retail stores. You can search the Internet as well in order to find competitive pricing. This is a good time to begin searching for great deals and bargains and many of the companies selling these units online offer free shipping. Investing in an outdoor playhouse will provide your children with hours of fun and entertainment and is great way for everyone to enjoy being outside.

One of the most popular toys for children is a playhouse. Kids adore trampolines, climbing frames and playhouses. With playhouses however, you name it, outdoor or indoor, these little houses are always a hit to the kids. It just never fails!

The love for playhouses roots from the childrens heightened curiosity. Toddlers and children around this age get a lot of imagination working and that their love for the outside has more than doubled. Therefore, you can just imagine how they love to open and shut the little doors, peek at the window and climb little steps on the playhouse. It is the fun in the idea that they have something that they can call their own.

Usually the make of playhouses is either plastic or wood. In addition, the designs and structures are vastly numerous. Your pick would only now depend on how you prefer the craftsmanship of the little house, the size and the of course, the price.

Wooden playhouses are as popular as the plastic ones. However, wooden ones are usually known to be in the outdoors. They are usually put in the garden, the backyard, near the porch, or somewhere where neighborhood children can share the fun of the kids’ newfound joy.

Curious, restless children need a perfect place for their plays. Moreover, matched with a nice weather outside, an outdoor playhouse definitely can bring all the excitement. Why, it can be a venue for almost all kinds of fun! Children can definitely play hide and seek, an all-time favorite. In addition, adults can even take part and do some role-playing, some guessing games and other fun activities.

An outdoor playhouse is such a versatile toy that can always bring both fun-filled play and learning experience for children. Way better off than much time spent watching television or playing some trendy play gadgets. Fresh air, live activities and social interaction are just some of the positives.

Pick the right playhouse to take advantage of playhouses aesthetic use in your garden. These pretty little structures can boost up the look of your garden.

With the many, many variations of toys playhouses, narrowed down to wooden playhouses, your children may have a hard time making a pick. Help them out and consider some really serious things.
Structure, make, versatility and price – these are first needed to be checked. In short, look for the quality wooden toy playhouse. Moreover, this is something that is easier said than done.

Well, do not yet panic on the many possibilities. Remember, it is supposed to be a fun search and surely, you and your kids will enjoy the time. As you browse along over the internet of the many designs and colors, you will see what I mean.

The play houses are supposed to serve as a delight and boost up the sense of independence to children. So, pick one that can stand the test of all the laughter, the pounding and all the possibilities the children can make out of it. This way you can rest your mind when you know that your kids are safe at play. That is the basic and foremost rule.

The rest does not really matter. There are so many designs, colors, and all. However, remember, a playhouse does not have to be fancy or expensive to be fun. Children are naturally creative and they can surely make up innovations you could never imagine. In addition, if that is not enough, you surely can do your share in the fun and help decorate. Nothing compares to a mom or a dad helping to make a secret hideaway or a place in the sun.

Just picture yourself sitting on the back deck sipping your Saturday morning coffee as you see your little girl excitedly running toward you waving a scrap of paper. She stands in front of you, her face beaming with the biggest smile you have ever seen. With a little curtsey and a bow she presents to you and your spouse, an invitation to a fabulous tea party at her house later on in the day. As she bounces up and down with anticipation you glance at each other, smile broadly and graciously accept. It is at that moment, you realize just how much the small investment into your child’s brand new wooden playhouse is going to grow throughout the years to come.

The joy and excitement your children will get from having a cottage playhouse in the back yard can have life long lasting effects on how you and your family plays together. We are all familiar with the old axiom that states “The family that plays together stays together.” In today’s busy world that old truth has more importance than ever before. We need to become more focused in this hectic, complicated environment and the best thing to focus in on right now is home and family.

Strong families make strong communities which makes strong nations. It may be a little hard to believe but outdoor playhouses can lead to a better world. Our children are our future and the more we can do for them now the more they will do for us long into the future.

For a little more than the cost of a small lawn tractor you can ensure your kids will have a great place to spend their days and have the chance to grow up developing a wonderful imagination. Playhouses are also a great way to make your backyard the place that all of your child’s friends want to hang out and play all day long. There obviously are tea parties to host, lunches to serve and sleep-outs to have. These will create fond memories for years to come.

There are many great manufactures that can supply parents and homeowners with beautifully built toy playhouses. HomePlace Structures is probably the top of the line maker of these outdoor play houses. They are from Austin, Texas and have very nice do it yourself kits for up to $2,500.00. These charming little houses feature a real front porch with white picket railings and flower boxes built-in under each of the two front windows. There are also two dormers on a roof that is covered with sculpted shingles making this a very good, safe and dry place for your kids to play. All HomePlace models offer a full sized door for quick and easy access by adults and parents.

HomePlace Structures has no less than 6 different models of playhouses to choose from; some with porches and dormers and some without. There are two styles of The Country Cabin, two styles of the Victorian and two styles of the Deluxe Victorian. The houses can start as low as $1,199.00 and can run up to above $2,500.00 depending on size and desired features. You can even get a model that has interior walls covered with finished pine board – all in all a very nice outdoor playhouse that can send your kids off into a world of their own.

Kidcraft builders make outdoor cottage playhouses that are perfect for parents on a tight budget. For under $270.00 you can get a small 55” tall wood playhouse that features a play sink, a storage place for toys and even a real mailbox with a flag.

Play houses are a great way to encourage creative play in children of all ages from toddlers to pre-teens. All children naturally learn by copying the people around them and ‘playing house’ is an important part of their creative development. Children also love to have a small space of their own and will happily spend hours constructing blanket forts or hidden away in secret places in the garden.

You can buy playhouses in all shapes and sizes ranging from tent style plastic constructions to spacious wooden cabins. When deciding what type of house to buy for your children, first consider the space you have and where it will be used. If you live in a cold climate or have little or no outdoor space, an indoor playhouse is the sensible option. Indoor houses are usually easy and quick to construct and dismantle so that you do not have to leave them up the whole time. When your kids are finished playing you can pack them away and reclaim the floor space. Indoor play houses are usually constructed like a tent, with a plastic frame and a cover made from fabric or plastic that can be rolled or folded up for easy storage. These types of houses come in all kinds of shapes and designs so you can choose a Native American teepee or a traditional country cottage, depending on the preferences of your child.

On the other hand, if your children spend a lot of time playing outdoors and you have a reasonably sized garden, an outdoor playhouse is the way to go. Outdoor playhouses are typically more sturdy than their indoor cousins are and can be a permanent fixture or put up and taken down whenever the mood arises. Play houses for use outdoors are usually made from plastic or wood. The wooden versions are intended to be left up once they are built and a wooden playhouse is usually an attractive addition to your garden. They come in a range of sizes and can resemble a shed or wood cabin or even a miniature version of a traditional wooden house.

When you’re considering what size of house to buy, think about the age of your child, how many children will usually be playing inside and how much space you have either inside or outside your home. Older children will need a bigger play house and if you have more than two children or your child frequently has friends over to visit, you will probably want to consider a bigger version also. Make sure you have enough room for potential playhouses before you buy them. A good way to do this is to make a paper cutout of the floor area of your chosen play house and place it on the floor to see how much room it takes up.

Your child will probably become quite protective of their new house and want to decorate it to their own styles and interests. Encourage them to put up their own artwork on the walls and you can even paint the inside or outside of a wooden play house, just like you would with a child’s bedroom. Make the house into a cozy hideaway for your child by supplying extras like curtains, a bright rug or even some potted plants. Children will love taking care of their own space and having somewhere just for them that they can retreat to and play, draw or read.

A playhouse for your child is truly a gift that will inspire creativity and be enjoyed by your children for many years. There are play houses available for every budget and every size of home so there is no reason not to buy one today!

There are so many reasons why all children will benefit from an outdoor playhouse and those benefits extend to the parents.

As children spend more and more time in front of the television, or playing on computer games, all parents want to create a safe environment for their child to release their energy.

Many people today are wary of allowing their children to play outside the home unless accompanied by an adult. Whilst this is unfortunately a sensible approach, it also has the affect of restricting children’s independence.

The perfect way to get around this problem is to create your own play area within your garden.

The market for play houses has increased tremendously which has the added bonus of opening up the market to many more people, regardless of the space you have available or the budget you are working within.

Nevertheless, how can playhouses provide this independence?

The answer is simple. Instead of being directed in their play by following the instructions of a computer game, they are encouraged to use their imagination more and create their own game within the play area. This in turn stimulates the child’s creativity as they create a completely new style of playing and encourages much more exercise as they climb and run about.

There are many different styles to choose from ranging from plastic, low maintenance, which is particularly suited to the very young child, right through to elaborate wooden playhouses.

When making your selection there are a few points to consider. Firstly, you should consider the amount of space that you have available. Secondly, whether you wish to utilize an abandoned section of your garden area or make the playhouse an attractive feature, and thirdly, the amount of money you wish to invest in the project.

If you are buying for a young child, it is worth considering wooden playhouses, as there is always the option of adding onto the original house as your child grows. For example, as your child becomes stronger and more agile a climbing frame can be attached or an extension added.

In fact the younger your child is, when you purchase a playhouse, the better. The sooner you encourage this type of independent play the more they will benefit over time.

If you opt to make a feature of it then there are many very attractive houses to choose from. You may only want a single story house, with or without a veranda or fencing, or maybe one on stilts with steps leading up to the front door. Children seem to particularly like the added excitement of their own steps and it also creates more playing area underneath the house itself.

Some additional features can be window boxes, which will encourage children to care for plants and flowers or maybe a stable door.
Another point to consider is the internal fixtures and fittings of the house.

Generally the more interesting you make it the more likely your child will want to go out and play. Furniture, such as small chairs and tables, or beanbags, plus rugs and cushions all help to create a personal space for your child. This in turn will encourage them to look after the area, clean, and tidy it just like a normal home.

Very quickly, it will become their own space in which to express themselves and take responsibility. They will also soon learn that their friends will love calling round to play in this unique place.

In short, a playhouse is really an investment. Not only in the health of your child but also because the house can grow with the child, spreading the cost over many years.

If you have children, you might want to consider purchasing an outdoor playhouse for them. The outdoor unit is a child sized item that allows them to utilize their imagination in creating their own playtime stories. The various structures available for use as this type of unit can be purchased as already existing items or as kits you can put together yourself. If you have not seen these items lately, you will be amazed at the designs and details incorporated into these miniature houses for children. You will find everything from a log cabin design to a cozy cottage playhouse.

The new styles of the wooden playhouse have replaced the old traditional fort that used to be put together using spare pieces of lumber. The kit comes with all of the items you need to assemble the unit for your children to use. This is much more convenient than trying to piece together odds and ends of left over wood materials. These structures are also much safer for children because all of the items have been finished with safe edges, and hardware that is designed to fit together so there are no protruding nails to hurt a small child.

In addition to having all the necessary materials, these kits may include roofs, porches and railing to make a realistically styled house. The Sunflower design comes complete with a wood porch in the front and a rail, which goes around it. The unit has three small windows, which are completely functional to use. It also comes with a front door styled in a Dutch design that can be opened and closed. It consists of cedar and mahogany and does not require any additional cutting to fit the boards together. This particular playhouse measures 6 feet by 9 feet and retails for around $2,500.

If your child loves storybook characters, you might purchase the gingerbread playhouse. This is a roomy structure measuring a full 8 feet by 12 feet and comes with a porch, rail and chimney. It is designed to have scalloped edges around the roof, windows and door area giving the whole piece a true storybook feel. It even includes a flowerbox for the window to allow children to grow and care for their very own flowers. This item includes safety glass for the windows and retails for about $1,700. It is also available in two smaller sizes that cost a bit less than the full sized unit.

There are also several styles of these playhouses that are made to resemble actual residential homes. You will find this in the Victorian Mansion, the Cape Cod and the Grand Portico. These larger homes have a two story type of construction without the extra flooring added to actually make two levels. Some may include a loft with ladder area to access a smaller portion of the second story, which resembles more of a porch than an actual room. You might find various options when choosing a playhouse kit such as whether or not you want to include a floor for your playhouse.

You can also buy several smaller pre-assembled units for use as an outdoor playhouse. These are generally geared for very small children and are made of a durable molded plastic material. They may have some assembly required for pieces that are generally easy to snap into place. This style will be much less expensive than the full size home designed items. You will find the molded plastic items available at most major department stores. You can find the larger type of playhouse kits available from retailers online who specialize in children’s play houses and outdoor equipment.

There is no better place for children to be able to create their own little adventure and piece of this world than in their own wooden playhouse. Regardless if they are a boy or a girl, the adventures they will have will stay with them forever. A child’s playhouse can be built either for indoor or outdoor use just depending on the space, size and parental preference. Regardless if your child chooses to call their playhouse a fort, a cabin, a castle or anything else they may come up with the time they spend in their pay house with friends, real and imaginary, family and pets will be an enormous impact on their lives. These will be the times they will remember forever.

Between the internet, local stores and builders in your area there are an array of different kits, building plans and completely built wooden playhouses on the market today. The first thing a parent needs to decide is if they want to buy an already built playhouse or do they want to build it themselves. Next, decide on the placement of the playhouse. Is the playhouse going to be inside a room, a garage, in the back yard, in a tree, part of another play area? It is very important to know where or approximately where you want your playhouse built or placed so you can decide on the size of the new play toy for your children. Depending on the placement of the playhouse may also depend on the structure or the material used for the structure. A playhouse that is designed specifically for the outdoors needs to be able to withstand the elements of nature for both the safety of the children and longevity of the play area.

Once you have decided on where the playhouse will be set up and if you want to build it or not, you are ready to begin your search for the perfect play area for your children to enjoy. Talk to your children to find out what type of styles they like, that also fits into the needs of your family as well as add to the décor of your home or yard. Many times a built in wooden playhouse can add value to your home with its beauty, décor and valuable fun area for children. There are so many choices on the market today of predesigned playhouses as well as ones you can custom design for your needs.

If you are looking for a pre-assembled wooden playhouse be sure to check with the manufacturer for exact built or assembly. Some play houses that are considered prebuilt actually need to be assembled. However, there are many wooden playhouses on the market that are preassembled or the company you order them from will come and build the playhouse on your site.

Building an indoor or outdoor playhouse yourself could be the perfect family project. Once you know where you want to build your cottage playhouse, make measurements and have an idea of design before you go looking for either the plans or a kit. When looking to purchase a playhouse kit make sure all the required parts are included in the kit or if they need to be purchased separately. For those using wooden playhouse plans make sure you get everything you need according to the plans prior to beginning your project for easy less stressful project.

The best thing about having a wooden playhouse regardless of its size or location is that you will be sure that your children will have hours and years of fun inside and around it. It is peace of mind knowing that your children are safely playing in their wooden playhouse as well as giving you a little break from entertaining them.

As a child, I was very active. Television was around when I was growing up but I had better things to do and the internet was unheard of. My imagination was wild and I loved being active. There were days though when my mother would have a hard time getting me outside or at least getting me to do something other than complaining I was bored. She solved that problem by getting me a playhouse. I was so excited when she presented it to me. It was my own little sanctuary; a home of my own. I place I could retreat to do my own thing away from the grown-ups. Today, I imagine it is even harder to get kids to do anything but watch TV, play video games and surf the net but playhouses are still a very effective way to give kids something different to do, something that will allow them to use their imaginations, be active and interact with other children.

A playhouse is just as the name suggests. It is a house made especially for children except it is smaller. Children can escape the real world and into their very own space. There are many types of playhouses on the market and here are some examples of what is available:
1) Playhouses are geared towards certain age groups. For younger children, the houses are smaller and have features targeted to their age. For an older child, the features will be more advanced.
2) All of them are different and have different features. Some of the features may include kitchen tools like a stove or sink. Others may have furniture like a table set or chairs or sofa.
3) There are both indoor and outdoor playhouses. An indoor one is best kept indoors and is best for younger kids while an outdoor one is built sturdy enough to be kept outdoors and is best for older and more adventurous kids who want to be independent and away from their surroundings in the home.
4) The houses are made from different materials. Plastic and wooden playhouses are the most popular.
5) There are also some that have different themes surrounding them, or are shaped differently from a typical house. Some look like tree houses, others look like tents and some are even shaped like cars, boats or trains. The designs to choose from are endless. Some are Disney character themed or have colorful patterns on them. Your child has so much to choose from!

Giving your child a playhouse is not only a great way to get them active, it will also teach them valuable skills such as independence and they will have fun while learning. They will get a kick out of playing with the features that allow them to do things the adults do such as washing dishes, sweeping the floor and cooking meals. They will so proud of their little home that they will want to invite the other kids over to join them which means it will also help them to interact with other kids and build necessary social skills.

Play houses can be bought in most department stores and in toy stores. The internet is a great place to start your research and to help you decide which house is best for your child and you can even order online if that is what you prefer. The cost varies depending on what type you buy but generally, you will be paying anywhere from seventy-five dollars to several hundred dollars. Until you are able to invest in a real one, you can use a regular camping tent as am alternative. It serves the same purpose for the time being.

I have very fond memories of playing in my playhouse and the memories your child will make will stay with them forever and transfer into a tradition they carry on with their own children.

One of the greatest gifts you can give a child is a place of their own to play. Children desire space they can call their own – that is why they are constantly building forts for themselves. Why not give them a gift and make them a wooden playhouse of their very own? Building a playhouse is both rewarding and challenging. After all your hard work you will be able to enjoy the face that you built your children their favorite play place.

The first step to building a the house is deciding on what size it is going to be. It needs to be big enough for the kids to have room to move around, but you don’t want to spend as much as you would on a garage. One good technique to decide on the size of the house is to measure it out in your yard and make a box out of string. That way you can get a feel for the size of the room.

The next thing to do is frame the floor. This will done with 2×6 pressure treated boards. To frame the floor lay two boards out that will be the length of the house. Mark a line every 16 inches along the boards for the studs to go. Cut studs at the width of the house: you will need one for each end of the boards as well as one for each of the lines. After they are all cut screw them in place going along the back of the board into the end of the studs. You now have a floor. Use a level along with stones and sand to level up the floor. Make sure that it does not shake or wiggle at all.

Now to install the flooring: pressure-treated deck boards are good for outdoor playhouse flooring. Squirt subfloor glue on to a few of the floor joists at a time, then lay the deck boards over them, pull them tight with a hammer and pry bar and screw a few screws down into each joist. The subfloor glue needs to be put under all of the boards to prevent creaking and help hold them tight. The last board will need to be ripped down with a circular saw to the proper width and after this is installed your floor is complete.

Framing the walls will be a little more difficult than the windows because spaces will have to be framed for the door and the windows. First lay out the wall that will have the door. Put studs in for either side of the door and then nail in a board horizontally at the height for the top of the door. Then add all the other studs making sure that there is no space greater than 16 inches between each. Do the same thing for the walls with the windows except add a horizontal board where the bottom of the window is going as well. After all the walls are framed up you can put them in place, nail them to the floor, and nail them to each other in the corners.
Now it is time to install the siding. T111 siding is good for this type of project. Cut it to the proper sizes and nail or screw it to all the wall studs.

After the siding is on, the roof can be built and attached. Attach 2 2×4′s to a bottom 2×4 that is the length of the roof. The attached two must be angled so that they go up and meet each other forming a triangle. After they are together cut a piece of plywood to fit over all of the joints between the boards. Screw the plywood on to strengthen the joints. After all of these triangles also known as trusses are built simply lay them on the top of the walls and screw them down.

Now apply some plywood to the roof, then tack down some felt paper making sure that each run overlaps the last by at least 6 inches. Now the shingles can be nailed on. Nail them on, overlapping one another so that the water will run down without running in to them.

Installing the windows is rather easy. Caulk the nailing flanges and then slide them in the holes. Screw through the flanges into the wall and the window is done.

To finish off the front porch simply buy a pre-made railing and put it together between the posts.

All of the playhouses parts are now put together and your child can now go and enjoy your hard work. Congratulations on finishing your playhouse!
